KSW 55: Mamed Khalidov's KO goes viral

KSW and Mamed Khalidov made headlines across the world over the weekend after his insane knockout win over Scott Askham in the KSW 55 main event went viral.

Khalidov, who turned 40 this year, regained his middleweight title landing a headkick knockout blow that would be hard to believe if seen in a Jean Claude Van Damme movie. If the knockout wasn’t impressive enough, he did so at 40-years-old. Proving age is just a number for some.

In just over 48 hours after the event the knockout itself has been viewed almost 10million times across the KSW social accounts with millions of additional views coming from broadcast and media partners.

ESPN, CBS Sports, Barstool Sports, SB Nation, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, and BILD are some of the media outlets who have posted about the knockout on web and/or social.

In addition to this, actors, professional wrestlers, soccer players, NBA players, TV anchors, journalists, and fellow fighters joined in admiration talking about and sharing the knockout.

Known as one of the best fighters ever to never compete in the UFC, Khalidov has been a huge star in Poland and Eastern Europe and is attributed as being one of the main factors helping KSW reach the heights of being officially one of the world’s top five MMA promotions.

KSW 55 took place in Lodz, Poland on Saturday night, October 10. The event itself was broadcast around the world through various TV partners and streamed online globally via the KSW PPV platform www.KSWTV.com.
